DVD Players

DVD players are incredibly common household items and since they became widely available they have rapidly supplanted VHS players, which are now almost utterly obsolete, as the favoured method of viewing pre rerecorded media. One of the reason that DVD players have become so popular, aside from the obvious improvements in picture and sound quality over VHS, is the fact that they are very cheap to produce and this is often reflected in the price of DVDs on sale in the high street which are often extremely cheap. This can be put down to the very low cost of DVD duplication, which allows DVD to be produced on a very large scale for as little as a few pence per unit. In fact the majority of the production cost for the DVDs you see in high street stores will be for the packaging.

Also, DVD duplication is now possible in many peoples' homes thanks to PCs equipped with DVD writers. This allows people to create DVDs of their own, so downloaded videos and other media can be played on a standard DVD player. Home DVD duplication has an almost limitless number of applications from the obvious creation of DVDs to watch at home to storing large amount of data. Many new DVD players are often equipped with writing capabilities which allows the user to record programs onto DVDs that have been downloaded onto the unit's on board hard drive.
